Abstract
PanPal is a chef's chatbot designed to offer an interactive and intelligent user experience on the SmartEating platform developed at OST. The chatbot assists users with various recipe-related tasks through text or audio interactions. The project integrates a chatbot interface (CI) into the SmartEating platform, making cooking guidance accessible and user-friendly. Users can select from different interaction models, including GPT-3.5 provided by OpenAI and Mixtral, a free large language model (LLM) hosted at OST. This integration involves using LangChain for prompt engineering and LLM memory management to ensure coherent and relevant conversations.
The PanPal project successfully embeds these AI technologies into the platform, offering robust and functional assistance for cooking-related tasks. It supports both text and audio input, significantly enhancing the user experience. Comparisons between the GPT-3-based assistant and the Mixtral assistant help users make informed decisions about which assistant suits them best. The project's outcomes indicate that with further refinements, PanPal has the potential to become an indispensable tool for interactive cooking assistance.
